Clement swam for Canada at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. After those games, he switched to cycling. This was his first Paralympics.

The Canadian is the current world winner in the T1-2 category, which is for athletes who ride stable bikes with three wheels. In Paris, he won Canada’s fourth bicycle medal. Before that, they had won three bronzes in track cycling.

Clement won silver in the time trial at his first road world title in 2022. He then won gold in the event at the Worlds and the Parapan American Games in 2023. He is also going to run in the men’s T1-2 road race on Saturday at 6:45 a.m. ET. CBC Gem, the Paris 2024 website, and the Paris 2024 mobile app will all have live coverage of the race.

Clement started swimming when he was 15 to help his left side move again after having a stroke from chicken pox when he was two years old. He set a new Canadian record in the 50-meter butterfly and came in seventh place in Rio.
